1. About These Terms

These Author Terms and Listing Terms set out the agreement between UK Author Promotion and any author, writer, poet, or other literary creator who applies to join, pays to join, or is listed on our website.

By applying for a listing, submitting your details, or paying for any author package, you agree to these terms.

2. Who We Are

UK Author Promotion is a platform designed to help authors raise their profile, showcase their books, and connect with readers, venues, and related opportunities.

3. Our Services

Depending on the package or arrangement selected, we may provide one or more of the following:

an author profile page
listing of books and related information
links to your website, email, or book-buying pages
inclusion in directories or promotional features
opportunities for event promotion
access to selected member benefits or community features

All services are provided subject to availability and the package chosen at the time of joining.

4. Eligibility

To join as an author or listed member, you must:

be at least 18 years old
have the right to submit the content you provide to us
provide accurate and truthful information
ensure that your work, profile, and materials do not infringe the rights of any other person or business

We reserve the right to refuse or remove a listing where we reasonably believe the information provided is false, misleading, unlawful, offensive, or unsuitable for the website.

5. Author Information and Content

You are responsible for all content you submit to us, including:

your biography
author photograph
book titles
book covers
book descriptions or blurbs
website links
email addresses
social media links
event information
any other promotional material

By submitting content, you confirm that:

it is accurate to the best of your knowledge
you own it or have permission to use it
it does not breach copyright, trade mark, privacy, defamation, or other legal rights
it does not contain misleading claims

You remain responsible for keeping your information up to date. UK Author Promotion is not responsible for errors in the materials you provide to us, although we may correct formatting, spelling, layout, or minor presentation issues where appropriate.

6. Book Information

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your book information, including:

title
cover image
blurb
genre
publication details
purchase links
pricing shown on third-party links, where applicable

If any information changes, it is your responsibility to notify us so that your listing can be updated.

7. Fees and Payment

Where a paid author package applies, the fee payable will be the price clearly shown at the point of purchase or application.

By purchasing a paid listing or membership, you agree to pay the stated fee in full.

Unless clearly stated otherwise:

fees are charged in pounds sterling
fees are non-transferable
your package applies only to the named author or approved listing
any promotional or founding offer applies only under the terms stated at the time of joining

8. Membership Period and Renewals

Where your package is annual, your membership or listing will run for 12 months from the date of payment unless a different period is clearly stated.

If your package renews, we will make the renewal basis clear at the point of joining or renewal.

It is your responsibility to review renewal information carefully. Any renewal terms, billing frequency, and cancellation arrangements will be stated clearly before you commit.

9. Cancellations and Refunds

If you change your mind after purchasing, any cancellation or refund rights will be subject to the nature of the service already provided and any legal rights that apply.

Where work has already begun on your author page, listing setup, profile creation, or promotional placement, we may make a reasonable charge for work already carried out.

Unless stated otherwise:

refunds are not normally available once your author page or listing has been created and published
no refund will usually be given for unused time remaining in an active membership or listing period
you may choose not to renew at the end of the current term

Nothing in these terms affects any rights you may have under UK consumer law.

10. Our Rights to Edit and Present Listings

We may edit or format submitted materials for clarity, house style, grammar, spelling, layout, image sizing, or consistency across the website.

We will not intentionally alter the substance of your work or misrepresent you, but we may make reasonable presentation changes to maintain a professional standard across the platform.

11. Promotional Activity

We may feature your listing, books, image, or submitted materials on our website, newsletters, social media, or related promotional material in connection with promoting UK Author Promotion and its listed authors.

By joining, you grant us a non-exclusive right to use the materials you submit for those promotional purposes.

12. Author Conduct and Content Standards

You agree not to submit or publish through our platform any content that:

is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or obscene
infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights
contains false or misleading claims
promotes illegal activity
harms the reputation or operation of UK Author Promotion

We may suspend, remove, or refuse content or listings that breach these standards.

13. Links to Third-Party Websites

Your listing may include links to external websites, book retailers, social media pages, or other third-party services.

We are not responsible for the content, availability, pricing, privacy practices, or operation of those third-party sites.

14. Events and Opportunities

Where we promote events, signings, appearances, or opportunities, inclusion is not guaranteed unless expressly stated.

Any event participation may be subject to separate event terms, venue requirements, availability, and organiser approval.

15. Suspension or Removal

We may suspend, remove, or refuse a listing if:

these terms are breached
payment is not made
submitted content is misleading, inappropriate, or unlawful
the listing damages or risks damaging the reputation or operation of the platform
we are required to do so for legal or operational reasons

Where appropriate, we will try to contact you first and explain the issue.

16. Limitation of Liability

We will use reasonable care and skill in providing our services.

However, we do not guarantee:

any particular number of views, enquiries, sales, or event bookings
uninterrupted website availability
that listings will always appear in any specific position or search result
that third-party links or external services will always function correctly

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful for us to do so, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time.

The latest version will always appear on our website. If the changes are important, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless another part of the United Kingdom requires otherwise by law.

20. Founding Author Offer Terms

Any Founding Author offer is limited strictly to the number of places stated at the time of promotion.

Where a Founding Author rate is offered, that rate will apply only to authors who successfully join, are accepted, and complete payment while places remain available.

Once all Founding Author places have been filled, the offer will close automatically and the standard membership rate will apply.

Unless otherwise stated, the Founding Author rate will remain available only for as long as the author remains continuously listed or subscribed with UK Author Promotion. If membership lapses, is cancelled, or is not renewed on time, the Founding Author rate may be lost and any rejoining may be at the standard rate in place at that time.

Any additional benefits attached to the Founding Author offer, including featured status, enhanced visibility, or promotional advantages, will be provided as described at the time of joining, subject to availability and the normal operation of the platform.

Founding Author places are non-transferable and may not be sold, assigned, or passed to another person.

21. Standard Membership and Renewal Terms

Standard Membership applies at the annual rate shown on the website at the time of joining or renewal, unless a different package has been agreed in writing.

Your membership will run for the period stated at the time of purchase, normally 12 months from the date of payment.

Where membership is renewed, the renewal price, renewal date, and any relevant billing terms will be made clear before renewal takes place.

It is your responsibility to ensure your contact details remain accurate so that we can send any necessary renewal information.

If payment is not received by the renewal date, we may suspend or remove your listing, profile, or related member benefits until payment is made.

We reserve the right to change future membership prices, packages, or benefits, but any such changes will apply only from the next renewal period unless otherwise stated.

22. Refunds and Cancellations Summary

We want our terms to be clear and fair.

If you purchase a membership or listing and then wish to cancel, you should contact us as soon as possible.

If no work has yet started on your listing, profile, or related services, we may, at our discretion, offer a full or just a partial refund.

If work has already started, including profile setup, listing creation, formatting, uploading content, or promotional preparation, we may deduct a reasonable amount to reflect the work already carried out.

Once your author page, listing, or promotional package has been completed and published, refunds will not normally be available.

Membership fees are generally non-refundable once the membership period has started, and no partial refund will usually be given for unused time remaining in an active term.

You may choose not to renew your membership at the end of the current period.

Nothing in this summary removes or reduces any rights you may have under applicable UK consumer law.
